There’ll be some ghoulish goings on across the region… and plenty for your little monsters to enjoy this Halloween!

Freaky Forest, Kelburn Castle and Country Centre, 13th-21st October

A fun adventure takes place in the Secret Forest, transformed for Halloween. Enjoy an interactive trail meeting characters and completing tasks within the Freaky Forest. Learn everything you need to know to impress Kelburn’s Greatest Showman. This is only part of your day out at Kelburn. This time slot element will take about half an hour leaving you time to explore the rest of our grounds and halloween activities.

Halloween Haunted Forest, Kelburn Castle and Country Centre, 26th-31st October

They say the Carnival comes every year. It arrives by night and lies silent during the day. But when the sun goes down the lights go on, the music blares and the clowns come out to play! This Halloween, bring friends and family down to Kelburn’s Haunted Forest for Sam Huinns Carnival of Horrors!

Monster Trail, Culzean Castle

Head up the coast to this magnificent castle and tackle the menacing monsters who are trying to scare the woodland creatures and visitors. Help spot them so they can be banished from the Country Park! Look out for the lost ghost piper to be entered into a prize draw to win an NTS Annual Family Pass. This is a self-led trail. Once completed, collect you can collect a Halloween treat!

Ghost hunt at Dundonald Castle, Ayr

Visit Dundonald Castle in Ayr and join Gordon Jeffers and Ghostbusters Ayrshire team of real paranormal investigators / ghost hunters. Take part in a ghost hunt inside and outside the castle and there’ll also be talks on equipment and use, history of castle and area stories, as well as a witch expert talk.

Tamfest 2018

Tamfest continues to grow year on year and 2018 is no different with a frighteningly good line up. This year we are delighted to announce that the Ayr’s famous mischief-maker, Tam o’ Shanter is back with all the witches and sorcery to celebrate his famous ride and encounter with the devil! This years line up has over 70 different acts and activities including the below. Children Zones featuring pumpkin carving, spooky science labs, Halloween special effects make up work shops, U/V Neon Puppet theatre and much more. Tam Stage which is located outside the Tam O’ Shanter Inn will feature an array of community groups and also Craig Ward who finished runner up in The Voice 2017 and is from Ayr himself. Ryan Lawrie who finished 6th in the X-Factor 2016 will also be performing.

Alloween, Ayr, 27th October

Are you brave enough to visit Alloway on Halloween? Enjoy a spooky guided tour of the bard’s birthplace and Alloway’s Auld Haunted Kirk. Join one of our “ghostly guides” and wander the streets of Alloway discovering tales of hauntings, suspicious deaths and maybe even the deil who “might have business on his hand!”.
